ICFAI Law School Conducts 11th N.J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition

The 11th N.J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition, hosted by ICFAI Law School Hyderabad, concluded on September 6, 2026, marking another successful year of fostering legal acumen among India's brightest young advocates. This year, Parul Institute of Law clinched the championship, taking home the top honor from a ₹2,00,000 prize pool. The three-day event culminated in a grand valedictory ceremony graced by Hon’ble Sri Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar and Hon’ble Sri Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao of the Telangana High Court. Both esteemed judges inspired the emerging generation of lawyers, emphasizing the growing representation of women in the legal profession, the foundational importance of constitutional rights, and the non-negotiable need for integrity and clean hands in the pursuit of justice.

The 3-day Sri N J Yasaswy Memorial 11th Moot Court Competition, 2026 organised by ICFAI Law School Hyderabad has concluded on 6th September 2026 at the ICFAI Campus. Hyderabad. The 3-day Competitions were held from 4th September 2026 to 6th September 2026.

Shri N. J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition is organized annually in honour of the Founder, Late Shri N. J. Yasaswy, with the aim of fostering legal knowledge, research acumen, leadership, and camaraderie among law students across the country. The 11th edition in 2026 once again upheld this vision, providing a platform for young advocates to sharpen their advocacy skills and excel in the field of law.

The ICFAI Law School is a significant segment of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Declared as a Deemed-to-be University established under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Established in the year 2010, the Law School has successfully completed a decade in professional teaching. It offers BBA LL.B (Hons) BA LL.B (Hons) five year integrated courses and two year LLM course recognized by Bar Council of India. It also offers PhD Program in Law and various Certificate Programs.

The competition concluded with a valedictory ceremony attended by the Guest of Honour, Hon’ble Sri Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana and the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Sri Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana.

Addressing the gathering Hon’ble Sri Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar, reflected on the growing presence and increasing representation of women in the legal profession, noting that this progress serves as an inspiration for young law students. He encouraged the students to work hard, remain committed to their goals, and make meaningful contributions to the field of law. 

His Lordship shared his admiration for Articles 14 and 19 of the Constitution of India, emphasising their significance in safeguarding equality and fundamental freedoms, and further dwelt upon the importance of Part IV of the Constitution - the Directive Principles of State Policy - which lays down the guiding principles for achieving social and economic justice and strengthening the foundations of a welfare-oriented society.

Hon'ble Sri Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao, in his speech highlighted on the importance of gender equality and its recognition since ancient times. He observed that law students today enjoy far greater opportunities for their integral development, which is crucial for entering the legal profession, and expressed his high expectations of the future advocates, legal academicians, and judges who will emerge from Generation Z - a generation known, as he remarked, for its proactive approach to situations and challenges. 

Invoking the time-honoured maxim that "one who comes to the court must come with clean hands," His Lordship underscored the honesty and integrity that must guide every practitioner of law. He concluded by wishing the students the very best in their future endeavors and reaffirming his abiding trust in the younger generation.

The Shri N. J. Yasaswy Memorial 11th Moot Court Competition 2026 had a total cash prize pool of ₹2,00,000/-. The Winners of the competition were Parul Institute of Law, Parul University and the First Runner-up were SVKM NMIMS, School of Law, Bengaluru and Second Runner-up were New Law College, Bharathi Vidyapeeth (Deemed to be University), Pune. Best Memorial was secured by St. Joseph College of law, Best Speaker was secured by KIIT School of Law, KIIT UNIVERSITY, Best Researcher was secured by Shiv Nadar School of Law, Shiv Nadar University.

Presidential Remarks were delivered by Prof. Pujari Ravisekhararaju, Director, ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad reflecting upon the three-day competition. Prof. Vijender Kumar, Director General, Law School, Hyderabad, encouraged students to value the knowledge and skills gained through competition and carry forward the spirit of excellence and continuous learning. 

The event was attended by Smt. Sobha Rani Yasaswy, Chairperson ICFAI Society, Dr. Sayan Das, Coordinator, Moot Court Society, ICFAI Law School, Dr. Sridevi D. Shet, faculty and students at large.
